Love for nature and the wildlife of Africa, with its lovely sunshine-filled days, motivated Frik & Dolette van Wyk to become serious about photography in 2007. After a few professional courses and workshops, there was no end to their enthusiasm, especially for bird and other wildlife photography.

“In 2009 we spent time at the Okavango Delta in Botswana where there is wonderful birdlife to study by camera. Since then, we have travelled through various Reserves in South-Africa, Botswana, Kenya and Namibia, recording striking images of many species in nature. With every exciting moment in nature that was captured we experienced an inner pleasure at the knowledge that nature, in all its various beauty, was given by God to mankind to enjoy and appreciate…”

Over time Frik & Dolette’s camera equipment – and skills – grew, with major technical improvements and lenses that got longer and longer! Looking through these lenses, observing unique and magical moments in nature and being able to capture these moments, gave the couple enormous pleasure and their passion continued to grow. These days Frik & Dolette van Wyk are regularly published in local magazines. They write interesting and informative articles on birds, which include their images. They are also part of the International Outdoor Photo Gallery Community.

In 2013 their first book was printed, depicting images captured at Giants Castle from the Lammergeyer hide in the majestic Drakensberg mountain. The Bearded Vultures, Cape Griffons, Jackal Buzzard, various other birds and panoramic views of these beautiful mountains are all included in this book ” Jewels of the South-Africa Drakensberg Mountains” . Quality printed copies of their book and canvas art prints are available for purchase on request.
