June 28th, 2016 - 1:11 pm | by Frik
A community project for the Enhlanganisweni Primary School was launched in September 2014 by Frik & Dolette van Wyk in conjunction with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and Giants Castle Nature Reserve. The project involves the sale of canvas prints of various images captured at Giants Castle bird hide over the past six years by Frik & Dolette.
A hard cover Coffee table book ( 300×300) printed on high quality paper of the Giants Castle birds was added to the project for sale towards the end of November 2014.
The Giant’s Castle portfolio includes photos of the impressive Bearded Vulture (juvenile and fully grown) , Cape Griffon and Jackal Buzzard, to name a few. Giant’s Castle Curio Shop and Frik & Dolette van Wyk will work together to serve the local community through the sale of canvas prints and books of the images from the Giant’s Castle portfolio. The total revenue will go towards funding community projects. All the goods on sale will be sponsored by Frik and Dolette from Eye-nature Photography.
Our first focus is a special project for the Grade R’s and Grade One’s at Enhlanganisweni Primary School. A small sample of Educational toys was delivered to the school on 16 November 2015. Mrs Sithole the school Principal and the Teachers for these children were involved in a discussion with us to establish the children’s needs.
It is a new year, 25 January 2016. We delivered various crates full of educational toys, small play balls, DVD’’s and clothing just to mention a few. The revenue from the sales of the goods at the shop at Giants Castle paid for all the educational toys. Lollypops sponsored, were also shared with every Grade R and Grade One child.

On this day the future possible projects were discussed with Mrs. Sithole and her staff and during this session we set our goal to enhance the children’s play area with the installation of a Jungle gym. ( Project B ). This will contribute to the development of the children which will lift them to the next level.
The biggest challenge will be to find a reputable contractor that will be willing to traveling at least five hours from Johannesburg and install the unit in one day at competitive pricing. Our second challenge is one of funds.
